THE MEETING OF THE INTERDEPARTMENTAL COMMISSION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the regular meeting of the Inter-departmental Commission on the Implementation of International Obligations of Turkmenistan in the area of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law in which representatives of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh, some ministries and branch departments, public organisations of the country took, took place.
The agenda included priorities of expansion of humanitarian cooperation with authoritative structures, first of all, with the United Nations Organization and its leading divisions. Forms and mechanisms of realisation of national plans and programs, including joint working plans also became a point of issue.
As was underlined, creation of worthy conditions for life of Turkmen nationals, maintenance of constitutional laws and freedom of citizens acts the basic indicator of democratic transformations realised in the country under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In the given context a special value was given to reduction of national legislation in conformity with positions of the international documents ratified by Turkmenistan.
One of the topics of the meeting was the basic directions of work on prospect on performance of the tasks put by the head of the state at the extended meeting of the Cabinet which took place on July 17, the current year and directed to further development multilateral and mutual relations with authoritative institutes.
The speakers noted that Turkmenistan, being an active associate of UN, takes an active part in the solution of topical issues of the present. Based upon the rich experience, partnership with the United Nations Organization in recent years was filled with qualitatively new maintenance.
Fruitful interaction with the United Nations, in particular, with the Development Program of the United Nations, Population Fund of the United Nations, Children's Fund of the United Nations, International Organization for Migration, the International Labour Organisation of Work, World Health Organization, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization successfully develops on such important direction, as humanitarian sphere. Among key aspects of interaction – issues of youth policy, gender equality, health protection of mother and the child, maintenance of the rights of disabled persons and others.
Within the limits of effective cooperation with the United Nations Turkmenistan has joined the basic international legal documents, including in the field of human rights, and undertakes concrete steps on realisation of positions of these documents. In the context of the solution of issues of the global Agenda on sustainable development till 2030 in the field of protection of the rights and legitimate interests of the person the Government of our country undertakes practical steps. So, by Resolutions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov were approved and are realised the «National plan of action for human rights in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025», «National plan of action on gender equality in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025», «National plan of action on realisation of the rights of children in Turkmenistan for 2018-2022», «National plan of action in Turkmenistan on counteraction to human trafficking for 2020-2022» and others.
Speakers also noted the value of carried out measures on the further democratisation of the country and strengthening of legal bases of the state. Thereupon it was underlined that in the course of realisation of national programs and plans constructive relations with the international organisations find wider format and effective character.
Being guided by the initiatives which were put forward by the leader of the nation, participants of the meeting discussed priority aspects of the further work on perfection of activity of official bodies and public associations in the field of maintenance of human rights and implementation of standards of the international humanitarian right in the legislation of Turkmenistan, introduction of advanced legal practice.
Concrete measures on successful solution of standing issues, including actions with connected with fulfilment of joint plans the Inter-departmental Commission and United Nations Organization Representations in Turkmenistan and its structural divisions were also outlined.
At the meeting other issues on which corresponding decisions were made, were also considered.
