ISSUES OF TURKMEN-BRITISH COOPERATION DISCUSSED
Today, on May 22, 2023, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V.Hajiyev met with the appointed British Ambassador to Turkmenistan Stephen Conlon
During the meeting, the British diplomat presented copies of his credentials. V.Hajiyev congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a high diplomatic post and expressed the readiness of the Turkmen side to assist and support him in his diplomatic activities.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
It was stated that bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UK is developing based on the principles of respect, equality and mutual benefit. In this context, as the Turkmen diplomat emphasized, an important event in interstate relations was the participation of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow on May 6 this year in London in the solemn events dedicated to the coronation ceremony of King Charles III.
The Turkmen side also noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to parliamentary diplomacy, and in this context, it was proposed to focus on the further development and strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations.
The similarity or closeness of the positions of the two countries on the most important issues of international and regional politics was noted.
