NEW ROADS AND BRIDGES OF TURKMENISTAN

In accordance with the long-term plans of socio-economic development, Turkmenistan is now implementing the task of turning the country into a transport and logistics center in the East-West and North-South directions.

At the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan held on July 18, the National Leader of the country, Chairman of the supreme representative body of people's power Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the construction of roads, bridges, buildings has always been considered a noble cause by our people.

Today we are successfully continuing this ancient tradition.

Specific economic calculations of specialists and international organizations testify to the successful implementation of the ancient tradition of Turkmens to erect road and communication facilities and ultramodern buildings.

For instance, the report of the Eurasian Development Bank "The Economy of Central Asia: a New Look" rightly notes that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, where the most extensive road construction has been launched, have made the greatest progress in the length of paved roads in the Central Asian region. As a percentage, Turkmenistan ranks first in terms of the increase in the length of the public road network.

Nowadays, Turkmenistan is modernizing and building a highway network with a length of about 14 thousand kilometers. About two hundred bridges have been put into operation. The construction of the Autobahn is actively underway.

The Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz highway, the border with Kazakhstan with a bridge over the Garabogazgol Bay, should soon become part of the Eastern Highway Route of the North-South transport corridor.

It is no exaggeration to note that Turkmenistan also attaches strategic importance to the development of railroads.

At present, new steel highways and container services are being created, which will allow integration into global supply chains.

Turkmenbashi seaport plays a significant role in this plan.

And there is no doubt that the builders and road masters will come to the next meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, scheduled for September 24, with new labor gifts, successfully realized work achievements.
