TELEPHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN AND PRESIDENT OF UZBEKISTAN

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Cordially greeting each other, the leaders of the two states expressed satisfaction with the current level of the multilateral relations, committed to the ties of friendship and fraternity.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated each other on the coming International Day of Novruz.

During the telephone conversation, the leaders of the two states exchanged their views on the key areas of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership that has a dynamic character and is built on the principles of mutual respect, given realias and the situation in the region and all around the world.

As noted, the old traditions of friendship and mutual attraction of our peoples, unanimity of basic values, commitment of the two states to the principles of peacefulness and humanity in international affairs stand as a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral relations.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of the interstate dialogue in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached during the top-level meetings and talks that allowed reaching new frontiers in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The parties reaffirmed their interest in diversifying mutually beneficial relations. At the same time, it was emphasized that the utmost importance was attached to strengthening cooperation within the framework of authoritative international organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States, which the Republic of Uzbekistan presides over this year. This opens up new opportunities for deepening fruitful multilateral cooperation.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan highly evaluated relations with fraternal Uzbekistan, expressing confidence that the existing level of trust and understanding between our countries will continue to serve as a solid basis for developing dialogue with a close neighbor and reliable partner.

The heads of the two friendly states also exchanged views on important issues of the regional and international agenda. The leaders of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan focused on the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), causing tension and uncertainty around the world and adversely affecting the state of international relations and trade.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, fully supporting the international community in efforts to combat coronavirus, had taken the very responsible approach to solve this problem and expressed the willingness to closely cooperate with fraternal Uzbekistan in this direction.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev called for the consolidation of efforts of the neighboring states to combat COVID-19, expressing confidence that joint actions will contribute to the successful solution of this task.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the leaders of the two states wished each other good health and success, and peace, prosperity and wellbeing to the peoples of the two countries.
