PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN AND PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION DISCUSS PRIORITIES OF THE INTERSTATE DIALOGUE OVER A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation.

Cordially greeting each other, the leaders of the two countries expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange views on priority issues of traditionally friendly, strategic interstate relations, and important aspects of regional and international issues.

During the conversation, the leaders of the two states focused on the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, celebrated this year - a glorious date symbolizing the unbreakable unity, courage and unparalleled heroism, demonstrated by the fraternal peoples in the name of the liberation of mankind from Nazism.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated President Vladimir Putin on the upcoming celebrations in honor of the common Victory Day, which will be held in Moscow on June 24 and wished all the anniversary events to be successful.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasized the the Victory Day was solemnly celebrated in Turkmenistan on May 9. It was noted that the delegation of the Russian Federation, headed by Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Colonel-General Alexander Fomin took part in these celebrations.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmen soldiers would take part in the anniversary military parade of Victory in the capital of the Russian Federation. The delegation of Turkmenistan will be headed by Minister of Defense Major General Begench Gundogdiyev.

The heads of the two states discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, which has impressive potential in various sectors. The joint Intergovernmental Commission plays a significant role in developing cooperation between the two states. A number of important issues related to further strengthening of the legal framework of the Turkmen-Russian partnership, building up trade and economic relations, and cooperation in such areas as industry, fuel and energy sector, financial, banking and transport sectors, as well as the humanitarian and cultural field will be discussed at the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.

It was noted that the agenda of the meeting includes such important issues as the digitalization of the economy and the introduction of advanced digital technologies. In this context, the Turkmen leader thanked the partners from Russia for their active participation in the work of the Intergovernmental Commission, as well as for the active position of Co-Chair from the Russian side - Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed great regret that he would not be able to personally take part in the celebrations on occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory in Moscow because on June 29 the Turkmen leader will celebrate his 63d birthday- the age of Prophet Muhammad. According to the national traditions, this date is usually celebrated together with family, relatives and friends, together with the whole people.

Due to coronavirus pandemic, in accordance with new anti-epidemic measures, including quarantine, every person, upon returning home from abroad, must be self-insulated for two weeks, which makes it impossible to travel abroad at the present time.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin expressed belief that the traditional interstate dialogue, which is based on long-standing ties of friendship and good neighborliness, would successfully develop, gaining new content, and wished all the best to each other and the peoples of the two countries.
