TURKMENISTAN PREPARES FOR THE HOLIDAY
Only a few days remain until the moment when the Turkmen people will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the country's independence in a solemn atmosphere.
Today, thirty years later, Turkmenistan celebrates its main national holiday as a modern competitive state with a solid foundation, sufficient economic and humanitarian potential, successfully carrying out large-scale transformations in all spheres of society.
Turkmenistan began its development in extremely difficult economic and social conditions. Having been a part of the USSR for decades, the country's economy had a raw material orientation and was based on the extensive development of natural resources. There was a significant dependence on imports of various goods, the release of which could well be carried out in the republic itself.
Today, Turkmenistan is among the first hundred countries in terms of GDP per capita - a characteristic that determines the level of economic development of the country, ahead of most of its regional neighbors in the ratings of the IMF and WB.
Turkmenistan is a multinational country. More than 40 nationalities live on its territory in peace and harmony. And Independence Day, as the republic rightly believes, is a holiday of all peoples and nationalities.
Over 30 years of independence, the architectural appearance of the capital, cities and villages has radically changed, in which comfortable housing for the population, new schools and kindergartens, Palaces of culture and rest, museums and libraries, sports and health centers are being built.
Traditionally, Ashgabat residents set the tone in preparation for the main holiday. Along the central avenues and streets of the capital, various elements of festive decor with the inscription "30 years of independence" have been installed, squares and parks have been put in order, monuments shine with purity. In honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, jubilee medals have been established, which, according to the established tradition, will be awarded to the best in all spheres of the state's life on the eve of the holiday.
