«KAIRAT» OF KURBAN BERDYEV STARTED IN THE GROUP STAGE OF THE CONFERENCE LEAGUE

The football players of Kazakhstan «Kairat» under the leadership of the well-known Turkmen specialist Kurban Berdyev played their first match in the Conference League. In the framework of the first round of the third in order of importance European club tournament they tie the game 0:0 in Almaty with Cyprian «Omonoia»

«The play was run on desire to open the scoring. Both teams showed highly proficient football. One point is also a result, serving as a start of our European cup way», – commented result of the match K.Berdyev in the post-match press-conference.

«Kairat» and «Omonoia» play in Group «H», which also includes Azerbaijanian «Qarabag» and Swiss «Basel», which tie the game 0:0.

Next match of the team of Kurban Berdyev will be away match against «Basel» on September 30.

«Kairat» has never before progressed to group stages of European cups, having become the first of Kazakhstan clubs, which managed to be qualified to the final stage of the Conference League. 

Kurban Berdyev was appointed as coach of «Kairat» in August, 2021, having signed a contract with club until end of 2021 with the extension option for two years. Behind the 69-years old specialist - three campaigns in the UEFA Champions League: two – as a leader of Kazan «Rubin» (2009/10, 2010/11) and one more – as a senior coach of «Rostov» (2016/17). In season 2012/13 K. Berdyev have progressed «Rubin» to Final 8 of Europa League.
