THE PHOTO COLLECTION OF THE TURKMEN EXHIBIT ITEMS IN THE MUSEUM OF PETER I

Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography the Kunstkamera of the Russian Academy of Science invites all persons interested to online excursions.

The generally accessible part of the electronic data base of collection includes the findings, discovered in Central Asia, in particular in Turkmenistan. The online catalogue allows to see multiple items of museum collection and get to know the histories related to them: about their authors and donators, collectors and scientific expeditions.

The historic photos, stored in the collection of the Russian museum, capture the ancient bazars, settlements, daily routine and traditions of Turkmen people. Men and women in national clothes, yurta, houseware, carpets and jewelry. The scientists – ethnographers, who visited Turkmenistan over the years, collected memorials of unique footage, insight into which arose interest to the ethnic culture of people.

Investigation of various museum collections – is a living, continuous process, leading to new discovery. The detailed explanation, with indication of the additional information is attached to each exhibit item.

The registered visitors of the electronic collections can share images of items in the social networks, create their thematic albums, make selections for getting from museum rights to use images of museum items in their projects.
