THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CIS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE WAS AWARDED THE JUBILEE MEDAL "25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NEUTRALITY OF TURKMENISTAN"

On January 18, 2022, a meeting was held in Moscow between the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Batyr Niyazliev.

The parties discussed the active participation of Turkmenistan in the integration processes in the Commonwealth, exchanged views on promising areas for further development of cooperation.

On behalf of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Batyr Niyazliev presented Sergey Lebedev with the anniversary medal "Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 25 ýyllygyna" (25th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan).

It should be recalled that the anniversary medal "Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 25 ýyllygyna" was established in honor of the 25th anniversary of gaining the legal status of permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan. The relevant Law was signed by the President of Turkmenistan on March 14, 2020. It is awarded to citizens of Turkmenistan and representatives of foreign states "for many years of conscientious work in the name of strengthening the legal status of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, active and effective state and public activities, as well as for a great personal contribution to strengthening the international authority of the Motherland throughout the world."

In early December 2020, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on awarding a group of foreign citizens with the anniversary medal "25 Years of Neutrality of Turkmenistan".

“Considering the merits in strengthening the independence, sovereignty and legal status of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, strengthening the authority of the Motherland on the world stage and developing international relations, as well as on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the neutrality of Turkmenistan,” President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov decided to award the commemorative medal “25 years of Neutrality of Turkmenistan” , Chairman of the Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Nikolaevich Lebedev.

On December 12, 2020, the people of independent neutral Turkmenistan, together with the world community, celebrated the International Day of Neutrality and the 25th anniversary of the declaration of Neutrality and the acquisition of the corresponding status. On the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality, solemn festive events were held throughout the country.

The second most important holiday after Independence Day - the International Day of Neutrality - is celebrated annually in Turkmenistan on December 12. The Neutrality Day of Turkmenistan was established in honor of the adoption on December 12, 1995 by the UN General Assembly of a special resolution on the permanent neutrality of the country. Until 2017, on December 12, Turkmenistan celebrated a national holiday - Neutrality Day. In February 2017, at the initiative of Ashgabat, the UN General Assembly proclaimed December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality.
