For special merits in strengthening the ties of friendship between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan

On December 11, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a ceremony of presenting the state award and conferring the honorary title of Turkmenistan “Hormatly il ýaşulusy” (Honorary Elder of the People) to Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Foreign Policy Issues Abdulaziz Kamilov.

The event was attended by the heads and diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices of the country abroad, students and faculty of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and media representatives.

Having greeted the audience, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov emphasized that effective cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan meets the long-term interests of the peoples of the two fraternal states, and is also a key factor in ensuring peace, stability, security and sustainable development in Central Asia. In this context, the merits and personal contribution of A. Kamilov to strengthening friendship and brotherhood between the two peoples were noted.

Then the head of the Foreign Ministry read out the relevant Decrees of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. According to the documents, for special merits in strengthening the ties of friendship between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, developing national traditions and customs, maintaining the unity and cohesion of the two fraternal peoples, educating the younger generation, popularizing the creative heritage of the classic poet of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi, as well as taking into account the great personal contribution to expanding the long-term cooperation of both states, A. Kamilov was awarded the title of Turkmenistan “Hormatly il ýaşulusy”, and the diplomat was also awarded the jubilee medal of Turkmenistan “Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna”.

In a solemn atmosphere, to the thunderous applause of those gathered, A. Kamilov puts on a traditional Turkmen don and white telpek. The guest is also presented with the corresponding certificates and badges.

During the ceremony, the congratulatory Address of the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Honorary Elder Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to A. Kamilov was listened to with great interest.

A. Kamilov expressed sincere recognition for such high awards to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The diplomat expressed his firm conviction that cooperation based on centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness will continue to successfully develop and strengthen for the benefit of fraternal peoples.
