CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF TURKMEN NEUTRALITY WAS HELD IN AFGHANISTAN

On August 29, 2020, Herat hosted an international conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan entitled “The policy of neutrality of Turkmenistan and its positive impact on Turkmen-Afghan relations”, which was jointly organized by the Embassy and Consulate of Turkmenistan in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The conference was attended by Turkmen diplomats, representatives of the “Turkmengaz” Concern working in the joint-stock company “TAPI Pipeline Company Limited”, Governor of the Herat province S.A.V. Gattali, Chairman of the Herat Provincial Council K. Alizay, Adviser to the President of Afghanistan S. Allaf, representatives of the provincial local authorities, higher educational institutions, heads of consular offices in Herat, Afghan businessmen, as well as representatives of the Turkmen Diaspora.

The conference participants were informed about important initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan under the guidance of the Turkmen Leader, in particular, about the work being done to ensure peace in the world and in the region.

Speakers at the event stressed that Turkmenistan, which has the status of permanent neutrality, has played an active role in international relations and has established itself as a center of reconciliation and agreement. Noting that the policy of positive Neutrality of Turkmenistan serves as one of the most effective and reliable instruments of diplomacy, its importance in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development was emphasized.

Also, during the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan occupies an advantageous position in the center of the Great Silk Road, which creates effective opportunities for the socio-economic development of the region and strengthening regional cooperation through the implementation of joint projects, such as the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication systems along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route, the Turgundi-Herat railway line, aimed at increasing the role of transport and transit corridors.

During the conference, the participants were particularly impressed by the videos dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Neutrality and the introductory presentation on the TAPI gas pipeline.
