KEY ASPECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY OF TURKMENISTAN ARE PRESENTED IN FRAMES OF QINGHAI EXPO

On September 6, the Qinghai Ecological (Industry) Expo and Tibetan Carpet Exhibition opened in Xining (PRC).

The exposition is dedicated to the ecological vector of development of economy and other areas, including such important areas as ecological plant growing and animal husbandry, traditional Chinese medicine, ecotourism, ethnic culture, etc.

The exhibition that is organized in three pavilions and on the site of the Qinghai International Exhibition and Convention Center, as well as in online format provides a platform for exchange of experience, development of a new model of cooperation, using environmental resources and environmentalization of industrial production.

Round tables, forums, events were organized within the framework of the exhibition to promote investments.

Head of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan to the PRC Parahat Durdyev took part in an online round-table meeting organized in frames of the industrial-ecological forum "Cooperation and development of the environmental industry".

Addressing the meeting participants, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan paid special attention to aspects of the national environmental strategy initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The key objectives of the environmental policy include dynamic economic growth through the efficient use of natural resources, introduction of the principles of ‘green’ economy and adaptation to climate change, consolidation of international efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and development of a special UN Special Programme for Saving of Aral Sea and the UN Water Strategy.

The participants in the video meeting were informed about the results of Turkmenistan's presidency over IFAS (2017-2019), as well as the adoption of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea on August 12, 2018, which became an important step on the way to global energy security.

Moreover, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan told about the work carried out in all regions of the country to ensure the efficient use of water resources, preservation of biological diversity and natural landscapes, combating desertification and land degradation, landscaping, as well as the Concept for the development of the Altyn Asyr Lake.

During the meeting, P. Durdyev highlighted the vectors of economic policy, which prioritizes the transformation of Turkmenistan from a country-exporter of raw materials into a country-producer and exporter of high-tech and environmentally friendly products.

In conclusion, the Ambassador informed the meeting participants about a series of events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, in particular, the International Conference "Policy of Neutrality and its Importance in Ensuring International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development" to be held in Ashgabat in December this year.
